#SD365: Watching and Waiting for Ion

Winter Storm Ion.

Sounds like something scary developed by the Galactic Empire.

I’m not sure who’s idea it was to start naming weather fronts, but it makes things feel like they’re a lot worse than they are.

We’ve had quite a bit of snow in DeKalb over the last 24 hours, but it has ceased. The blowing snow from the winds make the landscape look a lot like the ice planet Hoth in The Empire Strikes Back. Tall snow drifts everywhere.

While there are no tauntauns roaming the area, I’m pretty sure they would freeze to death before they reached the first marker as the high tomorrow is supposed to only reach -16 and the low to -20 with wind chills of up to -50.

In fact, Northern Illinois University sent out an Emergency Alert text this afternoon declaring school would be closed tomorrow.

Though I’ll be working on my basketball notes for a game on Thursday, it will be nice to work in sweats and a touque.

Hopefully no Wampas come knocking on my door…
